Vlad, can you take a closer look at the rotor by where the "swiss, unadjusted" is stamped. Is it also stamped "MO"???

Re: 1971 Automatic Bulova

Ryan, your watch appears to be a "Sea King" variant unknown. By "variant", I mean that Bulova would produce variations of a particular "branded" watch and then assign a secondary variant designation to it. Sometimes it would be based on the jewels in the movement, or a particular color of the bezel....

Re: 1971 Automatic Bulova

Nice watch Ryan. As to your question "what is the value", I'd say priceless in terms of it being a "family heirloom" and given to you by your grandfather. I see these style watches on EBay frequently selling for between $30 to $50 depending on condition, but then the sellers aren't selling a watch g...

Re: Soleta Watch Company

Thanks so much for the lead, unfortunately the book appears to be out of print everywhere! Any clues on where I could find a copy?

Soleta Watch Company

I was cleaning out some watches I purchased (bulk lots) a while back and came across a Soleta Watch, marked Soleta on dial and on movement. 6Jewel, 2 adj. and stamped "Switzerland" not "Swiss" on movement. Case back marked I W C Co. inside "Avalon" above the I W C Co. markings. It's a hinged case ba...

Re: 1941 Gruen "Huntsman"

Thanks Mike, any suggestions on the missing stem/crown? I haven't had any luck (or responses) from some of the supplier websites. I thought the gold over sterling was a curiosity also, especially on a GF case. The "ribbons" on mine aren't showing any brassing at all. Can't wait to git er done

Re: Appears to be a "Scout"

Damn ole eyes! Now that you pointed out that discrepancy, I see what you mean. I hope Mike can weigh in on this or provide a "better name". Jack, what you said about the "artist" rendition is a problem I've run into many, many times with Bulova ads vs. all their variants!

Re: 1941 Gruen "Huntsman"

Thanks MikeyT & GaryM, I registered over at vintagegruen, just haven't had time to delve into the various threads yet to hopefully find the stem/crown/crystal specs. I need for this watch.

Appears to be a "Scout"

Looks like a 1940 "Scout" to me, what do you think?
