Re: Fred's New Book...

I’m an elgin guy and I will buy these books. Then I will look at them and start buying more watches. Fact. Change the word Elgin to Hamilton and I think I could have said exactly the same thing. I collect books anyway, and a collecting mentor used to say, "Before you buy (anything collectible), buy...

Based upon the rough copy I have seen the last few years, everyone who thought Fred re-set the bar when his last book came out (myseld included) are going to be blown away by his new 5-volume-set! I know I'm...

Re: My first Illinois - Advice/Info please

I think the white part of the dial looks TERRIFIC. At this point perhaps you might want to speak with Robert at ID about re-printing the Illinois logo and re-filling the numbers with aged (NOT ORANGE!!!) luminous. That's all it really needs... and, frankly, I think this will look better than the vas...

I'm unsure about this one too. Is this an e series watch?s-l500-1.jpgs-l500.jpg

The good news is that since it's stamped "E-I" it means it was originally intended for an Elgin OR Illinois movement. So it's one people collect.

Re: My first Illinois - Advice/Info please

Before you send this dial to get redone, I'd STRONGLY suggest that you first give the dial a gentle cleaning. All of us have our own secret formulas we use, but I BET this one would clean-up nicely with a small amount of work. You might not be able to read the Illnois, but you might be surprised.

Re: Solid 10K White Gold Hamilton Parker B

That white one is not solid gold. After all, it's stamped as big as possible "W.G.F."
