That's a neat Elgin: I really like the outrigger lugs.

Re: Sangamo

The only member who has posted one so far is Mr Toad. His example HAS the original dial and is really wonderful. Thanks for posting this, Greg! It ought to look good because it came from Fred's collection several years ago; Magpie kept her eyes open to find one to give me as a surprise birthday pre...

Joyeux N...

Re: stops in dial up position.

This is almost certainly something around the balance. Since it runs in any position except face up, the problem is likely to be around the upper pivot in the balance cock (which is down when the watch is face up). Re: Hoping for an Illinois Watch from Santa?

I'd really like to find a green Jolly Roger. I'd take a Chesterfield, preferably the stepped-bezel version.

And, of course, I'd always take any Illinois in a solid 14K case (or even a Hamilton-illinois 14K).

Re: New Yorker 21J Score

The internal workings of a motor barrel can be hard to visualize. The designs used by Elgin, Illinois, and Hamilton had lots of differences in detail and even among models of a given maker, but all the variants shared the presence of a central arbor/axle/axis fixed to the barrel itself, whereas the ...
