Re: WRUW January 20th-26th 2019?

My watch for church today was a Hamilton "Andrews" in white:

(I enjoy wearing the watches of the Explorer series because I get to wear a Hamilton while knowing deep down inside it's an Illinois.)

Re: Whats it worth?

Yes, this is the right place on this forum to ask about your watch. Your watch is probably an example of a "private label" watch. That is to say, it was not made by George Wolf but rather for them by some established maker. This was once a common practice; the Illinois Watch Company, for example, mad...

I like the Hamilton, with dial and movement 30 degrees off level!

I was going to wear a Hamilton, too, today, but it wanted to be cranky, so I picked up an Illinois "Consul":

I, too, was in an Elgin mood when I picked a watch for church: "Home Run 462":

Re: Fixed this guy up for a local shop, fun serial number

Interesting movement, but it's obviously not the original case. This movement would have been in a hunter case, and the style of the present open-face case is much later than the date implied by the serial number, which would have been about 1892. I wonder whether the original case might have been m...

Mark, I'm always glad to see someone else getting into Hamilton-Illinois. I think these watches are seriously underappreciated.

WRUW 12/30/2019 through 1/5/2019?

For Sunday, I wore an Illinois "Chesterfield Stepped Bezel" with sparkle dial:

I am thankful to Magpie for providing this watch, which came from Fred Friedberg's collection.

Re: Site indicated as not secure -

I, too, get this. It means the site is delivering information without encryption. If you look at the actual address of a page, it begins with "http:" rather than "https:". For example, this thread is "http://vintagewatchforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=13168&sid=457eec95a5b283f45c3884e7bf3e181a". Thi...

Re: WRUW 12/23 through 12/29/18?

For Christmas Eve, I brought out a Hamilton-Illinois "Golden Male 'A'":

With a 14k case, this is hardly a budget watch. More about these watches (and pictures of this instance) is in Volume 4 (p. 1339 ff.) of Fred's new book.
