Re: New watch for my lady.

I have a Cartouche 365 I bought quite a while back, and I like it a lot. I hope your lady enjoys hers! You were lucky to get that great box with it....

Re: Elgin 6/0 Art Deco

Not that I know of -- that is the dial that's been on all the specimens of the Thrift 674 that I've seen. (BTW, I have one that I posted on WRUW back on Oct. 27, 2017.)

Re: WRUW 1/14–1/19/2018?

An Elgin Model 203 was on my wrist today:

I'd had it a while, but couldn't get the band put on it until the necessary female springbars were procured.

Re: WRUW 1/14–1/19/2018?

My wristwear today was a new acquisition, an Illinois "Ensign" in YGF: http://mrtoad.net/Media/201801WRUW/Illinois_Ensign-ygf-plain.jpg P.S. This is an unsual little watch; for details, see my post on the "Show Us Some Patina" thread on the Illinois Forum. ( http://vintagewatchforums.com/viewtopic.p...

Re: Show us some Patina...

I quite like the dial on my Mate. I do too! And I'm also fond of the dial on this YGF Ensign, the Mate's "little brother": http://mrtoad.net/Media/201801WRUW/Illinois_Ensign-ygf-plain-face-b.jpg My Ensign, which came from Fred, is a rare little beastie. He says he's seen only a couple of the plain-...

Re: Jolly Roger

Gorgeous plain-bezel JRs, RIck and Greg!

(Greg: It's often hard to tell what is yellow gold and what is green gold, of course, but I believe the JR you posted must be GGF, as no records have been found of that model ever having been issued in yellow. -- The Catalog Queen)

Re: Dial Hall of Shame

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY PEOPLE CAN'T SPELL ILLINIOS PROPERLY? Well, there's always the possibility that some people tend to transpose letters. (Looks like you picked up an "infection" yourself! ;) ) But another possibility is that they may have "Illini" on their minds, and so that sequence o...

Re: WRUW 12/24/17 thru 12/30/17

For the midnight Christmas Eve service at church I wore another oval watch, but oriented in the other direction -- that is to say, a "Piccadilly," one of my favorite Illinois models:

For the morning service at church on this Christmas Eve, I wore a GGF Elgin E-11 (aka "Oval"):
