Re: WRUW 3/17 through 3/23/2019?

Wednesday's watch for me was another rectangular Elgin with a rectangular movement -- but this time a men's model, the 1044, in a two-tone white and green gold-filled case:

Re: Help Me Date This One

Down the rabbit hole . . .

I find that Hamilton used "The Preferred Gift Watch" a lot as a slogan in advertising from 1937 through 1942 and some again in 1947 and 1948.

Re: WRUW 3/17 through 3/23/2019?

For a meeting today I wore one of the Elgin Parisiennes, a "Madame Jenny" with green enamel (still feeling St. Patrick's Day!): http://mrtoad.net/Media/201903WRUW/Elgin_Jenny-green.jpg (I guess my little ladies' model wasn't exactly what Grumpy had in mind for this week's Elgins, but it is very rect...

Re: Elgin Coronado

2) What is the year of this watch? Any catalog or advertisement images to share? I haven't found any catalog or ad images of the "Coronado," though it is pictured in the Ehrhardt Vintage, American & European Wrist Watch Price Guide, vol. 7. The date given there is ca. 1955. (I'm sure that if there'...

Today I'm wearing a new acquisition -- a hard-to-find Elgin "Sport Model 110," which has a two-tone white and green gold-filled case:

Re: Has this 485 been re-cased?

That watch is an Elgin 485 movement housed in a generic cushion-shaped case, not an Elgin model cased and timed at the Elgin factory. It was instead likely put together by some jobber or jeweler. (I suppose it's conceivable that it could be a recase by some jeweler at the request of a customer whose...

Re: WRUW 3/3 through 3/9/2019?

Great-looking watches all week, guys! Enjoyed seeing various styles of round bezels: tnwareagle89's Hamilton "Sea Date," Namespetra's Hamilton-Ricoh Electric, and grumpyguy's Elgin "Bahama" -- not to mention that great WWI Elgin from nosnor365 (Welcome to the forum!)
