Re: Help any one can tell me more about this pocket watch!
Not being a pocket watch guy, I'd never seen one before. But just google Paul Ditisheim deck watch and you'll get tons of results. If that's your watch, then you are in luck. Apparently, these are quite valuable. I'm seeing prices between $5,000 to over $20,000.

You are correct. I always call that case an Ace, didn't know there was a different sweep second version.

That's an Autowind Ace. I think Barney's Helmsman ID is more likely.502 to Right wrote: ↑Mon Apr 16, 2018 7:02 amWhat model is in the photo below? It looks similar to the Gruen in the movie. Although it doesn't have the railroad track chapter ring.

Re: Gruen Watch Information
Hi DJD1, what you are showing here is one of the most admired watches Gruen made: a Techi-Quadron. There were several versions of this watch, first introduced 1929, your version is most likely fom 1931. First time your specidic dial was shown in advertisements was to my knowledge February 1931 and ...

Re: Gruen Watch Information
The official model is "Quadron 73" and Gruen also used the term "Techni-Quadron," but most commonly it's referred to as a "doctor's watch." These were produced from the late '20s to early '30s. The movement is a caliber 877S which was made by the Aegler company. A bit of trivia related to this watch...

You are correct, service markings. And there's no universal code, so only the watchmaker who put them there could say what they mean.

Re: Help, "Lady Elgin" Wadsworth Pilot, can you ID?
Serial number dates to circa 1922. "Pilot" means gold filled. Non-working, realistically, probably about $25. If running and keeping time, maybe $50 to $75.

Re: Andre Duval Question
"Plaq 2M" means plated, 2 microns thickness. Watches like this are sort of the equivalent of costume jewelry. They may look nice and serve their purpose, but don't really have a lot of value. I don't know what it would cost to repair, maybe just a new battery and crown. A lot of jewelers would proba...

Yowsers. 4-tone solid gold box hinge case. And for those challenged by the distinction between green and yellow gold, here they are side by side.
