Re: RAF version Pierce Chronograph.

Try searching here and you may find somebody in your area: https://members.awci.com/AWCIWEB/AWCISearch/MemberSearch.aspx It seems like there is enough better paying work with modern luxury watches for the small pool of professional watchmakers that most aren't dying to take on $100-$200 finicky vint...

136 = C.R. Spillmann. That's all I have. That's just the case maker.

Bracelet is by Bugbee & Niles.
If only they had made a men's Orné series. Great looking B&N bracelet too.

Re: Waltham Front Loading Rectangular model with a 21j grade 771 movement from 1942.

I've seen that model periodically over the years but have never seen shots of the back showing that it screws together. That explains the otherwise unusual aesthetic design. Hard to believe that waterproofing wasn't part of the intention. Would there be room for a gasket?

Re: Gold omega Cal 231

I'm not an Omega expert, but they were pretty consistent about marking their cases going all the way back to the early 20th century, so I would say almost certainly recased. But if you got it near scrap value and you like the look, then get a redial and enjoy it.

The crown in a circle is a German import mark. If you can make out the three numbers in the hammer, that might tell us who the case maker was.

Re: Help and advice needed to identify authenticity

I would say it's legit. Case and dial look fine. It's kind of odd that the movement doesn't have any markings, but there are plenty of other Omegas from the same era with movements that appear nearly identical, so I suspect it's fine.

I can't be any of them. I've never owned a watch with a date function.

Re: Hamilton Oval on Ebay.

do you think I could try taking an impression of the back using something like a modeling clay to send to https://www.shapeways.com and get a steel case back made? I'm not a Luddite but I just have a hard time believing it would snap on as it should. I would share that concern, but if it's close en...
