Re: Small Rose Designation on Tudors

I could be mistaken but I believe the difference is not in the size of the Rose but between the early Tudor Rose & Shield emblem and just the later Rose emblem without the shield. When "The Tudor" brand was transferred back to Hans Wilsdorf in 1936, the Tudor Dynasty Rose within a shield was inscrib...

Re: Spider Dial - effect on price

The saying goes, " beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and the same goes for collectors. IME, the Rolex " spider" dial which actually was from a finish flaw ( lacquer cracking) isn't a universally coveted aspect for Rolex collectors. For those that do hunt & collect these flawed dials, a premium p...

Re: Opinions on Steinhart ocean blue?

WOW, that's so interesting. You know, if a buyer of this model wanted, he/she could have a very good position with Steinhart for getting a discount on the purchase price. There could be a substantiated false advertising claim. After all, Steinhart's website advertises and displays a watch containing...

Re: Opinions on Steinhart ocean blue?

stryfox, you're right. IMO the Soprod A10 is a very good movt however, you might want to look over your watchs, secs because unless I'm reading it wrong, there's an ETA 2892 A2 Top inside. Below is from the Steinhart description . The sporty exclusiveness of the Ocean One PREMIUM Blue makes it stand...

Re: Opinions on Strinhart ocean blue?

Hi stryfox and congratulations again on purchasing a fine watch! As I'm sure you know, the ETA 2892 A2 comes in 4 grades, Standard, Elabore, Top and Chronometer. Your Ocean One Blue ( Smurf) is a Top grade with 5 adjusted positions. The daily rate for the Top grade is a maximum of +/- 4 s/d. The max...

Re: Opinions on Strinhart ocean blue?

Steinhart IMO makes an excellent quality watch at a very reasonable price point. You get a lot of watch for your buck and they retain their value. A number of their limited editions have become collector pieces and increased in significant value. It's easy to tell, Steinhart focus is " homage" but a...

Re: Non Watch Holy Grails

Great collection Martin! I no longer collect handguns but when I did, my grails were Walther and Beretta. I never owned a Sauer pistol but their 38H has always fascinated me with regard to features. The take down pin at the top of the trigger guard, unlike the Walther that used the trigger guard its...
