Re: 1926 ladies Gruen

HI Patrick, strange that the photo did not show up, I accessed your post about three times (but later it might have come from the cache...). Just when I added my post, the third picture showed up. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I have one more ad from 1927 showing the watch, which was publ...

Re: 1926 ladies Gruen

Ah, I see, you now added the movement picture or did it not show up for me? Serial seems to be 303k, so I expect this watch being early 1927.

Re: 1926 ladies Gruen

Patrick, I think that this December 1927 ad shows your watch: Cartouche__Dec_15__1927_.jpg The case serial is also more towards 1927, but could be 1926, I do not have that many datapoints to be date it by the serial precisely. I tend 80 / 20 towards 1927. You did not show the movement or told us abo...

Re: All in the family: platinum Quadron

Beautiful!
I love the long tanks, wearing my Imperial Tank every day since I own it. OK, it is not platinum and does not have a Quadron movement but other than that also a very fine watch.
It is a very good habit to give such a good watch from family member to family member. Don't change the habit!

Re: latest acquisition

I noticed that it is in the rectangular section. And with your nickname it implied that a tank were the one missing. Last year my christmas present was the "Imperial Tank", I love that watch and am wearing it every day since.

Re: latest acquisition

Definitely a stunning watch, congratulations!
I share you observation that it seem not to have been advertised, I do also not own an advertisement showing it, and believe me, I have many...
And I agree with you that this watch is from 1949 or 1950.

Nice!

Re: Gruen in the Movies - What model is this? 1949

Not the Ace, the Ace is the sweep second version of the Leader. This watch has the subsecond, hence it is a Leader / Lakehurst in case my ID is correct...

Re: Gruen in the Movies - What model is this? 1949

Looks a bit later, I'd say about 1952. Photos of the inside could help. But almost for sure it is also an Import watch, most likely the Import 298 which was sold as Autowind Lakehurst with metal strap or like yours as Autowind Leader with a leather strap. It should have a caliber 460 or caliber 462 ...
