Re: Help ID this Gruen

Yes, absolutely. Around 1950 the average mans model had the size of todays ladies models, hence people nowadays think of them as ladies models. The round gents models of the 40s were very small, whereas the long Curvexes seemed to have double the size. The 415 caliber was the standard size caliber f...

Re: Help ID this Gruen

Hi, this looks like a pretty rare model which I have not seen yet. There is a "plain" version of this model which came without the diamonds. The plain version was called "Times Square", was introduced 1951 at $71.50 and has been built for about 2 years. Your version was introduced shortly after the ...

Re: 1926 ladies Gruen

HI Patrick, strange that the photo did not show up, I accessed your post about three times (but later it might have come from the cache...). Just when I added my post, the third picture showed up. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I have one more ad from 1927 showing the watch, which was publ...

Re: 1926 ladies Gruen

Ah, I see, you now added the movement picture or did it not show up for me? Serial seems to be 303k, so I expect this watch being early 1927.

Re: 1926 ladies Gruen

Patrick, I think that this December 1927 ad shows your watch: Cartouche__Dec_15__1927_.jpg The case serial is also more towards 1927, but could be 1926, I do not have that many datapoints to be date it by the serial precisely. I tend 80 / 20 towards 1927. You did not show the movement or told us abo...

Re: All in the family: platinum Quadron

Beautiful!
I love the long tanks, wearing my Imperial Tank every day since I own it. OK, it is not platinum and does not have a Quadron movement but other than that also a very fine watch.
It is a very good habit to give such a good watch from family member to family member. Don't change the habit!
