Armistice Day, WWI Waltham Trench Watch

I've had a very long time to think about which watch I'll be wearing on 100 year anniversary to the end of the Great War, aka Armistice Day, Remembrance Day or Veterans Day. I have come to my decision, I will be wearing the Waltham Depollier Waterproof & Dustproof Trench Watch. The historical advanc...

Re: The EARLIEST American made Men's Wrist Watch KNOWN to EXIST

HA ! ! ! ! ! I was finally able to obtain the 3rd and final case style of the 1911 New England Lever Cavour Wrist Watch!!!!!!! The gun metal version JUST arrived about an hour ago! So, here are ALL three case styles side by side: sterling silver, gold filled and gun metal. WOW! That was NOT an easy ...

Re: 1917 WWI Burlington "Aviator" Trench Watch

Yeah, this not an exception to the rule, many straps were attached with the buckle end at the 6 o'clock position. I noticed shortly after I posted this that I put the strap on opposite of the advert. I changed the strap to how it is configured in the advert last night. Several Elgin Trench Watch and...

1917 WWI Burlington "Aviator" Trench Watch

I picked this one up a couple of weeks ago. Just finished putting it back together a few days ago. 1917 WWI Burlington "Aviator" Trench Watch. Nice 17 jewel movement, it was seized up, took it apart and gave it a good cleaning. Running very well for the past several days, great timing, high amplitud...

Re: The EARLIEST American made Men's Wrist Watch KNOWN to EXIST

Thanks Jerry! This is now the third manufacturer that I have found that used gold filled crowns on their sterling silver cases. (New England, Fahys & Dennison) New England also put gold filled lugs on this sterling case, a bit odd. But, I took measurements with my micrometer and the lug dims are exa...

Re: The EARLIEST American made Men's Wrist Watch KNOWN to EXIST

Massive update to this incredible story! A few weeks ago there was an auction held in New Hampshire, hundreds of lots, mostly dealing in watches and marine clocks. I bid vigorously on one specific lot that had 16 antique watches and won, but it cost me more than a few bucks. It took a few weeks for ...
