Re: don't get the rolex, and omega thing.

I get both brands, and not because of their monetary value. The 40mm Oyster case fits me like it was bespoke. I'd own a no-date Sub or a GMT (Pepsi, Coke, or Root Beer) if I was still in the game. I've probably owned more Omegas than any other brand except Longines and I'd rebuy several if I returne...

Re: I'm going to be selling most of my collection...

Tom - where in Florida are you? (PM if you prefer) My wife and I get down there at least once a year and travel all over, usually for Spring Training. If you want to have dinner, pick a BYOB and we'll bring a couple bottles of nice wine. Dennis! Long time, bud. We live in central Florida - The Vill...

Re: Ebay Buyer - Hall of Shame!

I could tell you stories. :o  My favorite was a return from an Asian buyer (who we suspected was a frankenfaker, but using a different account to buy under) who returned an Omega because the serial number wasn't in the right range for the marriages he specialized in. There was no other reason ...

Re: who know the this model?

It's a poor redial under a custom crystal. Replacement crown too. Probably a caliber 351 or non-chronometer 354 from the early to mid 50's.

Re: How Do You Do It?

If more than one trained watchmaker could not make the watch work properly, that makes Stan at least as good as those trained watchmakers. :D First, they said it wouldn't be worth the money to track down the issue after trying the normal fixes. Second, Stan replaced the first movement with this one...

Re: How Do You Do It?

I'm going to sit right in the middle of Stan and Adam. While Adam was harsh, he did have a point - Stan is not a trained watchmaker. I like Stan a lot and his knowledge is a boon to any forum he posts on, but I have a Waltham that I bought off him two-ish years ago that still doesn't work despite re...

Re: Franken or For Real

Watch companies that made many similar sized cases, movements, and dials left quite a lot of room for frankening, didn't they?
