Re: Elgin From 1928 14K

So it's jobbers or jewelers watch, and not factory manufactured. Would the movement have been purchased fully assembled from t...

Elgin From 1928 14K

Just arrived this IMHO a lovely 14k Elgin Serial number on the movement 32751446 dates this 15 Jewel movement to 1928. I love the case it is beautiful being decorated with filigree detailing. I am unsure if this would have been worn by a lady or gentleman. It looks small on my wrist but big on my wi...

Re: Lord Elgin Something of interest?

Thought that would generate some interest. :D

Its just sold for £621 or $812.98.

$225 in 1942 equals $3,504.66 or £2677.05 in 2017, allowing for inflation.
This person has a bargain even with the wrong dial!
Thanks everyone as always for the information.

Lord Elgin Something of interest?

Something of interest? This is for sale in the UK at present, I did not know Elgin produced Platinum watches. But I bet Michael did. It still has an hour to run and its £565.55 I wonder what its first buyer paid for it? There are a few marks on the case but I expect they would polish out quite easil...

Re: Your Top 10 Modern Elgins

I don't have a large collection compared with some of you guys, but I tend to buy what I like rather than collecting a series. So here goes. 1. Avery model 9500 (my first Elgin) 2. Clubman model 4811 Clubwoman model 4330 3. Cavalier model 1869 (1935) 4. Cavalier model 6823 (1956) 5. Parkton model 46...
