Elgin Dante Black face Model 6811

Hello all, Just been delivered to the UK and into my care, this Elgin Dante, which is running. All stainless steel as you all know and mid 1950's by the information gleaned here. I have polished one face with the cape cod cloth and it has come up reasonably well for less than a minutes polishing. Ye...

Re: Asking for help/information pocket watch

Here Here, What a beautiful watch and case. What is on the end of the watch chain? It looks like the kind of thing a pipe smoker would have used. So $90 ish for the movement and case in 1921 allowing for inflation would have been approximately $1,267.77 in 2018. Get it serviced and wear great grandf...

Elgin Spare Parts and Servicing Tips

This has been extracted from a huge PDF.
It is quite interesting reading, even for someone who has never stripped down a watch.

I do hope that it is of some help, in tracking down that elusive part.

Enjoy.

Re: Incoming late 30s early 40s

Its here, Turns out the movement dates to 1944. A 21 jewel 559 Movement GeneJockey the markers are gilded, on this one and as you can see the face is very clean. Thanks also for the ad, and as I thought in my humble opinion it looked better without the expanding strap I changed it for something that...

Incoming late 30s early 40s

Bottom feeding wins again. :D A nice clean looking example. The seller had it at collection only and most people would not look any further, but if they had they would have seen that the seller would post. Bagged it for a song and cannot wait for it to arrive. Am I right in my dating? Will post more...
