Re: Spammers beware....

mark needs to add a captcha to the signin form on phpbb, these spams are just automated bots.

until that is done, this will continue and they are not human, so warning them wont make an ant's fart of a difference

Re: Elgin Electronic Atomic Dial

Long story short, it dates to 1954 and can't exist cause we all know Hamilton where first with an electric watch.

You won't find the rest of it as there is only one known to exist, it's a 17j electronic movement in a 18k gold case.

How do I know? I own it.

Re: Introduction and request for assistance identifying a piece

welcome aboard.

elgins from this period are hard to identify as the company was in turmoil and there is a lack of catalogs.

I found this advertisement from 1961 that looks like a match.

theres a yahoo club that is dedicated to these, they have a database of known examples.

the last year or two, they have started to be reproduced thou, so "be careful" and really do your home work.

Re: Identification Help

Yes, they are both Lord Elgin Dunbar models.

the black dial is a later version with a 23j movement, the white dial is the earlier 21j version.

good luck with the sale.
