Re: February 2019 Incoming

Here's another new addition to the photo library, a 1962 Montclair II. This is a one-year wonder and a pretty obscure model, I suspect. The green by the 5 marker is actually a reflection. It runs a 17 jewel 731. I expected a 22 jewel 770 since it didn't say SWISS on the dial. The 731 is an upgraded ...

Re: February 2019 Incoming

That's another gem, Pat. You sure have a knack for finding nice watches. Here's a new addition to the photo library - my first in quite a while. It's 1961 Gendon. It's not quite what the catalogs depict it to be... agree? https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1XrrY0hDfps/XHL59bK0zWI/AAAAAAAAVsw/WXciwnA9jmQACVq...

Re: Worst Franken Ever?

Sometimes frankens are called "mules"... as in part female horse and part male donkey. Some franken watches, like mules, have a lot going for them and even look good. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They're not all monsters like that poor Martin. There's also the pseudo frankens, that are a Ha...

Re: Gladstone in need of TLC

Looks great. That'll be a keeper for sure once it's finished. Getting the dial and hands resumed to match will really look sharp, since the rest is going to look so good. Although skeleton hands (without lume) looks pretty cool too.

Re: Post Your Favorite Hamilton Purchase of 2018

Something old, something new... and the inverse of Tom (but just as cool) 8-) Dan, I really want to get one of these new pandas. Some of the photos I've seen lead me to believe it's hard to make out the hands on that white dial. Is it easy to read? I've considered selling my Speedy for this reason ...

Re: Post Your Mystery Hamiltons Here.

I have looked through the catalogs and found the 1961 accumatic a-600 to be quite similar but not the same. It has a 14k gold case. I haven’t opened it up yet. Any help would be great! Could be a T-203 - knowing what movement was inside would provide a good clue. You may want to remove the bracelet...

Re: Grade 64 and 64A

Yes, both movements are based on an ETA 2452. The A has a recess cut out on the automatic framework and gives you a little more access to the balance for adjustments with the oscillating weight installed. The same is true with the other ETA-based movements like 689/689A, etc.
