Patrick, I know that when I asked this same question here years ago the consensus was that cash was mandatory, so sounds like your experience is not atypical, but I sure was hoping that folks had caught up with the technology — I wanted the option to use my credit card, LOL.

This style of case (and some variations of it) is often referred to as "horseshoe" and was used by several watch companies.
