Re: Recommendations for Hamilton Electric Servicing in/near NYC?

Yup, Tom's right, Jarett is your guy. He not only has been trained by Rene, but he also has a cache of NOS parts that will get your watch running like new.

P.S. I live in the NY area, and there is no one there that I would trust with an Electric — I send mine to Jarett.

so perhaps Fedex delivery and $3000 insurance?
If I am not mistaken, Fedex will not honor insurance on jewelry and watches. Here is an old link on the exception. Things certainly may have changed, but I think not:

Re: Post Your Mystery Hamiltons Here.

I don't think we'll get more definitive than this, LOL.

I have a few sales sheets from this period — I just realized I really should probably scan them and get them up into our Photo Library.

Anyway, looks like your watch is a "Hi Tech Chronomatic II":

Re: Compulsive Solid Gold Hamilton Buckle Questions

Getting off the topic of buckles - does anyone know who makes straps ANYTHING close to ones that Mark has in his photo? Gemex and Kreisler make similar straps, I believe: Can't quite see the details since Mark's pics only show the bottoms. I'm about to list some nice vintage straps for sale — shoot...

Re: Grand Dads Watch

Hello retroworks. how do you clean the blackish stuff off? Thanks Well, it's not something I would recommend a novice do with my usual method (simichrome polish) because the watch would need to be disassembled first. Instead, you might get a dry "jeweler's rouge cloth" or "sunshine cloth" and see w...

I'll take some better pics.
That would be great! Please also take some better pics for us of that case back so that we can see how bad the edges and point erosion is — does it go all the way through, essentially making a hole in those areas?

Re: Grand Dads Watch

Forgot about that ^^^. Lug wear is pretty bad, though. In my experience with Pacers, that grey-ish black area on the white lugs is usually tarnish, not finish wear. Usually polishes right off**, though of course the photos here are pretty bad and I can't say for certain. The yellow area on the whit...

Re: Grand Dads Watch

I suspect the existing bezel top wouldn't look too bad with a good clean and polish, and the back wouldn't be too much of a concern if one just wanted to wear the piece. But there is a known serial number range for correct Pacermatics, and a completely new case or replacement back might be problemat...
